Ricky Perez Leon

Geographic Information Systems Analyst

Ricky Perez Leon brings to ME&A more than 20 years of geospatial expertise. A geographic information systems (GIS) analyst in ME&A’s Geospatial Technology Group (GTG), he provides geospatial services to ME&A’s clients as well as training and capacity-building within ME&A to build ME&A teams’ understanding of GIS and its uses in development. Mr. Perez Leon is highly skilled at managing data sets, building layers, and producing dynamic and static cartography products for spatial analysis purposes. He also contributes to proposal writing for business development.

Mr. Perez Leon previously served as a GIS specialist for the ME&A-led USAID-funded Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Project in El Salvador (ME&L El Salvador). In this capacity, he oversaw development of more than 250 GIS maps for USAID/El Salvador on topics ranging from migration, remittances, and homicides to environmental management and COVID-19 relief. He also provided GIS services to USAID/Guatemala.

A native of El Salvador. Mr. Perez Leon is bilingual in Spanish and English. He holds an M.S. in Management and Conservation of Tropical Forests from the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza or CATIE) in Costa Rica as well as a bachelor’s in Biology from the University of El Salvador.
