Overview

The Digital Technologies and Research Unit (DTRU) combines ME&A’s expertise in economics, geography, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, research, and analysis to address complex development challenges, informing the products and services of ME&A’s practice areas with evidence-based findings. The DTRU is an Esri bronze partner with access to Esri early adopter programs, demo and marketing licenses, training, certifications, and technical support.  It is committed to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards for scientific integrity, impartiality, and objectivity in all of its work

Activities

The DTRU provides development geospatial expertise (GIS and remote sensing, including LiDAR and radar) along with advanced data collection, analysis, and reporting capabilities to address development priorities, such as health; resilience; gender; information and communications technologies; climate; climate; crime; hydrology; food security; energy; infrastructure; and monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

The DTRU offers technical training both to ME&A staff and external clients in the use of advanced research, analysis, and geospatial technologies and practices. It also supports ME&A’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team who has conducted more than 200 evaluations and assessments  in over 50 countries worldwide.
