ME&A Team Sparks Hope at SID-United States 2024 Annual Conference

ME&A Team Sparks Hope at SID-United States 2024 Annual Conference

ME&A proudly participated as one of the sponsors of the Society for International Development United States (SID-US) Annual Conference, April 26, 2024, in Washington, D.C. Under the theme of “World in Crisis: Sparks of Hope,” the hybrid conference convened 1,200 development professionals in-person, thousands more remotely, and numerous in-person exhibitors, including ME&A.

At ME&A’s table in the exhibition hall, ME&A team members engaged with SID-US members, fostering discussions on advancing development while seizing the opportunity to recruit top-tier talent. ME&A’s representative at the conference were Director of Human Resources Lizette Laserna Salvador; Business and Proposal Development Director Dana Hudock; Senior Program Director for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Christopher Coffman; Communications and Geographic Information Systems Specialist Thomas G. England; Project Coordinator Kenneth Goughnour; and Human Resources and Administrative Assistant Dulce Alanna Lejarde.

ME&A President and CEO Teresita Perez was featured in a short video SID-US showcased on social media. In the video, she encapsulated the timeless wisdom of Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Gloria Steele, SID-US 2024 Annual Conference Chair, buttressed this message: “Today, the world grapples with unprecedented crises and alarming setbacks in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. At the same time, the tremendous transformation that the world has achieved through knowledge, technology, and resources reminds us that we can reverse the current trend. Change is possible and necessary, and we all have a role to play in making this happen.”

A highlight of the conference was the keynote address delivered by Ambassador Mark Green (ret.), current President and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and former USAID Administrator. He spoke about promoting compassion and self-reliance to build resilience in development and humanitarian programs abroad.

ME&A is a long-standing member of SID, a non-profit organization composed of individuals and institutions concerned with sustainable international development. The SID-Washington chapter, where ME&A has been active, rebranded in 2022 as SID-United States or SID-US. ME&A has served as a sponsor for SID-Washington’s annual career fair and annual conference for many years.
